Windlight settings are an essential part of the photo. I am an avid collector of windlights but I also enjoy creating my own or experimenting with the ones already installed in my viewer. Windlights and shadows are a personal choice of each photographer. There is no right or wrong. It’s what feels good to you and what makes your photo unique.
Here you can find some of my windlight settings. You can download them and install them to your own viewer.
First click on the link. It will take you to the page where my Windlights are stored. On the upper right hand corner you will see the download button. The Windlights will be downloaded in your downloads folder or wherever you have told you computer to store downloads. I would suggest that you create your own separate file to store all downloaded windlights because in case you do a clean install or update of your viewer, you will lose them from there and you need to have them somewhere handy.
Once you download them, open the Appdata folder, find the Roaming folder –> viewer folder –>user settings –>windlight –> skies and drag your new windlights in there. Done. If you are logged in sl while doing that, log out and log back in and voila!
In your Graphics tab in Preferences, set your Graphics to High or Ultra (I use high), enable Advanced Lighting Model and Ambient Occlusion, set your Shadows and Avatar shadows to your choice, turn your avatar around and see how you like the Windlight on it.
